Job description (overview)

Responsible for hydrodynamic analysis, mooring system design, and optimization for FOWT platforms. To ensure the mooring system's performance in varying environmental conditions reliably and efficiently, as so conducting hydrodynamic modelling studies, designing mooring systems, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mooring solutions into FOWT designs.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, or a related field.
  • Specialization in hydrodynamics, marine structures, or offshore engineering is preferred.

Experience

  • 5 years of experience in naval architecture, hydrodynamics, or offshore engineering, with a focus on mooring system design and analysis and optimization.
  • Good technical knowledge of aero-hydrodynamic analysis software (OrcaFlex, Deeplines Wind or similar), finite elements software (FEMAP or SESAM)  is desirable, and Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and MATLAB.
  • Must have a good working awareness of codes and standards in FOW or similar industry. Specific experience with DNV or ABS standards will be a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in hydrodynamic coupling analysis, and mooring system optimization, for offshore structures.
  • In-depth knowledge of mooring system design and analysis for offshore structures, including dynamic response and station-keeping strategies.     

 

Hard Skills

  • Expertise in hydrodynamic analysis and modelling, including wave loading, current forces, and vessel motions, with a focus on FOWT platforms.
  • Proficiency in software tools used for hydrodynamic analysis and mooring system design, such as OrcaFlex, Deeplines Wind, ANSYS AQWA, and WAMIT.
  • In-depth knowledge of mooring system design principles, including selection of mooring components, layout optimization, and fatigue analysis.      
  • Familiarity with offshore regulatory requirements, classification society rules, and industry guidelines applicable to mooring systems and floating structures.
  • Knowledge of structural engineering principles and practices related to offshore structures, including load transfer mechanisms and structural integrity considerations.
  • Proficiency in English and Portuguese communication (verbal and written).
